Rice "Pete" Burns Jr. practices law primarily in the areas of Federal Bankruptcy law, debtors and creditors rights, school law, and estate planning.
 
He is a graduate of Sikeston High School and received a B.S. Degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
 
He received his J.D. Degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Missouri in 1974.
 
From 1969 until 1971 he served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge.
 
He has been in the active practice of law since 1974.
 
He has served as a panel Bankruptcy Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri since 1992.
 
He has been a guest speaker at numerous continuing legal education programs for the Missouri Bar Association on matters involving Bankruptcy and Probate law.
 
He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri and state courts in the State of Missouri.
 
He is a member of the Missouri Bar and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.
 
He has represented debtors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases.
 
He has also represented creditors and creditor committees.
 
In 1994, Governor Mel Carnahan appointed Burns to the Missouri State Board of Education where he served until 2000.
 
He has been President of the Sikeston Economic Development Board and President of the Sikeston Lions Club having been twice awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated service to humanity.
 
He has received numerous community awards including Honors Board at the Sikeston Public Schools, Honors Board Sikeston Park Board and Outstanding Young Men of America Awards from the Jaycees.
 
He presently serves on the Board of the Community Sheltered Workshop in Sikeston, Missouri.

Burns is very active in his church and community. He is married and has three children and three grandchildren.

Steve Taylor practices primarily in the area of worker’s compensation and personal injury.  Mr. Taylor is a graduate of Sikeston High School, Southeast Missouri State University and received his law degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  From 1970 until 1972, he served in the United States Army Reserves where he began his law practice. 

He retired in 1980 at the rank of Captain.
 
Mr. Taylor has been active in the practice of law in the Sikeston area since 1973 with extensive jury and non-jury trial experience .
 
Mr. Taylor has served on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys; has served the Missouri Bar as a Disciplinary Hearing Officer; and has served as Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri. 
 
He is presently a member of the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group, the Missouri Bar Workers’ Compensation Committee, the American Association of Justice,  the Scott County Bar, and Missouri Bar Association. 

Mr. Taylor has been a lecturer at continuing legal education programs for the Missouri Bar Association on matters involving workers’ compensation law. 

He is admitted to practice in state courts in the State of Missouri and in US courts for the Eastern District of Missouri, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
 
Mr. Taylor has been active in his community as former President of the Sikeston Jaycees, President of Young Democratic Clubs of Missouri, Commissioner Sikeston Little League Football Program, President Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Board, United Way Board, Chairman American Legion Boys State and American Legion Baseball, District Chairman Boy Scouts of America, Chairman Local Ducks Unlimited, Council Commissioner Boy Scouts of America, State Trustee and National Committee Member Ducks Unlimited, Council Trustee Boy Scouts of America, President Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Sikeston Veteran’s Park Committee, and President Sikeston Lions Club. 
 
Mr. Taylor has received numerous honors for his service including the Jaycee Distinguished Service Award, Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award,
Sikeston Park Committee Honors Board, Sikeston Lions Melvin Jones Fellow and Sikeston Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year.
 
Mr. Taylor presently serves on the Board of Municipal Utilities for the City of Sikeston and is Chairman of Sikeston Veteran’s Park.

Mr. Taylor lives in Sikeston with his wife, Pat.  He has two children and four grandchildren.

Kim Heckemeyer practices primarily in the areas of Social Security Disability, workers' compensation and family law.
 
She is formerly Kim Croom, a native of Dunklin County.
 
Upon graduating from Campbell High School in 1993, Kim attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi where she was a member of the Honors College, Phi Mu sorority and several campus organizations.
 
Kim was an officer of Phi Mu in 1996 and completed her degree in English in December, 1996.
 
Kim thereafter graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a law degree in 2000 and was admitted into practice inMissouri and in the U.S. District Court for Eastern Missouri in 2000.
 
Kim is married to Joe Heckemeyer, of Sikeston, and they have three children.

Kim is a member of the Sikeston Rotary Club and has been involved with several philanthropies in the community.

Boyd Green was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, obtaining his political science degree in 1993 and his law degree in 1996. He is a former member of the Oregon State Bar, having practiced in Portland from 1998 to 2002 as a criminal defense attorney.

He joined this firm in 2002, and since that time has maintained a general practice of law with emphasis on workers' compensation, personal injury, Social Security Disability and criminal law.

He has been a member of the Missouri Bar since 1996 and is currently President of the Scott County Bar Association.

He resides in Sikeston with his wife, Laura Sherman Green, and their son.

He is a member of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sikeston Lions Club.

Matt Edwards is originally from Jackson, Missouri, and a graduate of Jackson High School.  He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in political science from Southeast Missouri State University.  He then attended law school at Saint Louis University, graduating magna cum laude in 2005 with an emphasis in criminal litigation.  While attending law school Mr. Edwards served as a clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office in Saint Louis. 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Edwards served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri defending workers’ compensation claims.  He also worked for the Social Security Administration for more than six years.

Mr. Edwards currently maintains a general practice focusing on the areas of Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability, Workers’ Compensation, Criminal Defense and Family Law.
